Gift for HusbandJan 18, 2010

I bought this for my husband. We recently moved from Florida to a colder climate. He had no jacket at all. He is 6'5 and to find even clothes for him let alone a jacket can be a chore. I found this jacket and we ordered it with our fingers crossed. It fit perfectly and keeps him warm. He loves it. I would definitely buy Columbia again.

Looks great, works poorlyDec 31, 2009

Really the title says it all. I selected this coat because it was attractive and made by a major brand. Really I figured I couldn't go wrong. Unfortunately, while the coat is attractive, it doesn't keep me warm. I have a small fleece jacket that easily keeps me warmer than this, even though it was intended to be little more than a windbreaker.
Also as a side note, today I cinched the hood for the second time only to find that one of the cinch cords was almost torn from it fastener. I did not pull it hard.
As a summary, this coat would be great for 30 - 40 degree weather. Doesn't do a thing for anything below 30.

Excellent product. Used in snow and ice and protected from the truth. It is a great buy and I indicate.
Right jacket, right priceApr 17, 2010
By L. Bovino 5-stars if the pocket zippers weren't upside down! I'm used to ski jackets w/pocket zippers that close down...less likely to open by accident or leave open. Regardless...a great update of the Whirlibird (compared to my last one...quite a while ago) at a great price (<$100 at end of season) from a vendor that delivered as promised...if a little slow.
I've skied all conditions from sub-zero to warm and rainy, ice to powder to slop in Columbia jackets and can't understand why anybody would ever pay for more expensive branded gear.
